In recent years, China has experienced a growing enthusiasm for winter sports. Since the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, around 313 million people in the country have participated in ice and snow sports or related leisure activities.

Local governments have also been actively developing supportive facilities to make winter sports more accessible to the public. According to China's General Administration of Sport, there were 2,847 ice and snow sports venues nationwide by the end of 2023 – a 16.11 percent year-on-year increase – providing more opportunities for people to enjoy winter sports.
