A magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in Xigaze, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, at a depth of 10 kilometers at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday. The earthquake emergency response in Xizang has been raised to Level I, the highest level, the region's emergency command center announced on Tuesday.
At around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, the first batch of more than 5,800 relief supplies, including cotton tents, cotton clothing and quilts, urgently allocated by the Office of the National Commission for Disaster Reduction and Relief, the Ministry of Emergency Management and the National Grain and Reserves Administration to Xizang, arrived at the earthquake-affected areas in Dingri. The remaining 16,000-plus items of relief supplies will continue to arrive at the disaster areas on Wednesday.
