Foreign leaders and heads of international organizations have sent condolence messages to Chinese President Xi Jinping or expressed their sincere sympathies in other ways since a strong earthquake struck Dingri County in the city of Xigaze, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.

The foreign leaders extended condolences over the heavy casualties and property damage caused by the quake and spoke highly of the Chinese government's swift and effective rescue operations.
They expressed their belief that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the people in the disaster-hit areas will surely overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes.
A magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday, leaving 126 people dead.
