With just under one month to go until the start of the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, hosts China released their attire for the medal awarding ceremonies on Thursday.
Olympic freestyle skiing aerials champion Xu Mengtao was among the athletes on hand to present the outfits during a runway show. The uniforms feature a design theme representing what designers call "snow and ice romance," including an underlaid red snowflake pattern, included to convey the determination of the athletes.
The indoor attire is equipped with China's first self-developed high-performance waterproof and moisture-permeable material, and is aimed at ensuring the athletes are warm and comfortable at all times. The outdoor outfits feature a body microclimate adjustment system, which means the uniforms can store and conduct heat.
"These clothes use waterproof and moisture-permeable material, and offer professional performance in wind and waterproofing and drying," said short track speed skater Liu Guanyi. "This design is amazing, we athletes like it very much, and I really want to be able to show it on the podium at the Asian Winter Games."
