The 2025 Beijing Book Fair, which runs from January 9 to 11, has showcased some groundbreaking trends in traditional Chinese culture publications.

These trends have been primarily found among museum and archaeology-related books, which are now enjoying a surge in popularity in China and have surprised readers with innovations.

The culture-themed books being promoted by exhibitors included one on the 12 Chinese zodiac animals in a museum and another on 40 years of evolution at the Palace Museum through a photographer's lens.

One of the standout features for these books is the application of technologies like augmented reality and virtual reality. Readers can scan artifact images in the museum-related books to view 3D models on their mobile phones and even simulate excavation sites, gaining deeper insights into key moments of archaeological discovery. These innovations are widely believed to have revolutionized reading experiences.

Simultaneously, traditional culture books have also showcased their global potential.

Publishers in China are actively expanding their international outreach in promoting traditional culture books. For example, the Jiangxi Universities and Colleges Press unveiled its bilingual editions of China's Four Great Classic Novels, having international copyright deals signed during the fair, thus evolving the relevance of traditional Chinese culture in a global context.

Online experiences of Chinese festivals and shared readings of Chinese illustrated classics were also arranged for young readers around the world, further propelling Chinese culture onto the global stage while building bridges of understanding.
