Witnessing the first light illuminate the Shaolin Temple, a revered sanctuary nestled in central China's Henan Province, is an experience that evokes awe and wonder.
Founded at the behest of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-557) in honor of the wandering Indian monk Batuo (Buddhabhadra), the Shaolin Temple boasts a history spanning over 1,500 years. Its name, Shaolin, means "temple in the thick forests of Shaoshi Mountain," aptly reflecting its serene location.
As the cradle of Shaolin Kung Fu, the temple attracts countless individuals from around the world who are drawn to learn this unique blend of Chinese martial arts and Chan Buddhist philosophy.
