China vows 'necessary measures' after U.S. AI export controls

China will take necessary measures to safeguard its 'legitimate rights and interests, said the Ministry of Commerce on Monday, after the U.S. government rolled out new rules limiting the sale of advanced AI technology to all nations except close allies.

"The Biden administration has abused export control measures, seriously hindering normal economic and trade exchanges between countries, severely undermining market rules and international economic and trade order,gravely affecting global scientific and technological innovation, and seriously damaging the interests of companies around the world, including U.S. companies," said the ministry in a statement.
