Yang Yanfei is a skilled craftsman in jujube wood carving from Yulin City in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
Since childhood, Yang developed a deep connection to these trees that have been cultivated in the province for over 3,000 years.
He started wood carving at the age of 16. To carve a product, he would first closely observe the natural shape of the wood and think about what it resembled. Yang's approach retains the wood's natural form to capture its value.

From jujube-shaped carvings to elegant combs and hairpins, Yang also creates modern products that bridge the gap between heritage and contemporary artistry, ensuring the craft continues to thrive.
