As the Spring Festival approaches, the streets of Longtun Village in Shiqian County, southwest China's Guizhou Province have come alive with the enticing aroma of snacks made of rice. Known in Chinese as "mihua" (rice flowers) and "mibing" (rice cakes), these treats are crafted into flower and cake shapes.
Made from local glutinous rice, the delicacies follow a traditional preparation process. The rice is soaked for 12 hours, ground into a fine paste, and then formed into flower-shaped molds using special tools. These are then dried naturally or baked before being fried at high temperatures, resulting in the crispy, fragrant treats.
