Released in July 2023 in the Chinese mainland, the first installment of a trilogy adapted from the Ming Dynasty novel "Fengshen Yanyi," or "The Investiture of the Gods," expanded its reach globally, having been screened in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and other countries and regions last year, according to a China Daily report.
Following that move, the film, which has been hailed by the Hollywood Reporter as one of China's most successful films of 2023, also recently announced on its official Weibo account that the sequel will begin its theatrical release in Australia and New Zealand on January 30. Starting from January 31, it will also be released in select locations in Japan, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
In February, even more countries and regions, such as Cambodia and Bulgaria, will have the opportunity to enjoy this sequel to the Chinese mythology blockbuster. The film continues to feature Chinese-American pop star Fei Xiang, who starred in "Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms," the first installment of the legendary fantasy trilogy.
In addition, with the release of the trailer for the 2nd installment, audiences were thrilled to discover that the fearless female general Deng Chanyu is poised to be one of the film's biggest highlights. "Whether she's standing tall with her sword or raising her turquoise-embedded armor in a dramatic rain-soaked scene, her presence commands attention and leaves a lasting impression," commented one film critic.
