South Korea's impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol was arrested from the presidential residence on Wednesday, becoming the country's first sitting president to be kept in custody over his short-lived imposition of martial law.

CGTN Stringer asked residents in Seoul how they viewed Yoon's arrest and their expectations for the country's future leadership. "I think the Korean leadership, whether in the ruling party or the opposition, must wake up and focus not on their party's interests but on the interests of the people and what they truly desire," said local retiree Kwon Young-woo.
