China's Ministry of Commerce on Thursday said it will launch a probe into the U.S. export of low-priced chips to China in accordance with relevant Chinese laws and regulations and World Trade Organization rules.

A spokesperson made the remarks in response to a comment that China's mature-process chip industry is facing unfair competition from U.S. imports, and there is a request from domestic companies for anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations.

According to China's chip industries, the Biden administration has been providing substantial subsidies to its chip industry for some time, allowing U.S. companies to gain an unfair competitive advantage and exporting related mature-process chip products to China at low prices, according to the spokesperson.

"Such an act has damaged the legitimate rights and interests of China's domestic industries," the spokesperson stated, adding that China's domestic industries have the right to file a trade remedy investigation application.
