The Taste of Kashi – Episode 1: A Mystery Brews

The Taste of Kashi is a new unscripted series by CGTN that takes the form of a thrilling 100-hour challenge in the desert city of Kashi, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Nadim Diab, a journalist, content creator and coffee lover, faces an ambitious task: to craft a brew that captures the essence of this storied city. With the clock ticking, Nadim must navigate an unfamiliar landscape to draw inspiration – and ingredients – from the local culture and people. Luckily, help is never too far away.

In Episode 1, we meet Nadim on the night of his departure from Beijing, where he's been living since 2012, to Kashi, in China's far west. But he's entering this challenge blind. He has no clue what the mission is or who's pulling the strings. So upon his arrival, Nadim finds himself roaming the twisting streets of the old part of town, chasing after clues and bothering strangers. Will he find the answers he wants or will the city keep him guessing?
