The World Economic Forum has welcomed 17 new members to its Global Lighthouse Network, a group of 189 industry leaders using advanced technologies in manufacturing. The announcement, made in a white paper published on Tuesday, includes the first lighthouse site in Africa, operated by Chinese company CITIC Dicastal Group, a leading manufacturer of aluminum parts. CITIC Dicastal has implemented over 40 digital projects aimed at improving production precision and flexibility while making better use of materials. The facility uses advanced techniques for casting and machining, an Al-driven inspection system, and controls to address local issues with natural gas quality in furnaces. The company also works with local resources to create more opportunities in Africa.
