The Chinese mainland has slammed Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te's "China threat" remarks. Lai in early January said Taiwan needs to raise its "defense budget" and enhance "defense capabilities." In response, Chinese Defense Ministry Spokesperson Wu Qian said on Friday that Lai is the biggest source of chaos that undermines peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.
