After 13 years of rest, the majestic 68-section dragon lantern at Zhengjue Temple Village in Yangjiang Town of Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, has come to life once again.
Stretching for an impressive 122 meters, the dragon is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, combining traditional skills such as bamboo weaving and carpentry. Its intricately designed head is adorned with fine details and equipped with mechanical features that enable its eyes and mouth to open and close. The dragon dance, which requires between 100 and 200 performers, creates a stunning visual display as the massive dragon winds its way through the village.
With large-scale dragon dances occurring only every decade or so, this rare and epic event captivates the community and celebrates the enduring legacy of this cultural tradition.
