Yabuli, in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, will host the snowboard events at next month's Harbin Asian Winter Games, and the preparations for the continental showpiece continued with a big air test event at the Yabuli Winter Sports Center.
The course was 214 meters long and 30 meters wide with a drop of 62 meters for the test event, which doubled as China's National Championship. Each athlete took three runs, with the final scores based on their two best efforts.
A total of 10 snowboarders took part in the men's big air final. Yang Jinghan from Sichuan Sports College earned 79.33 points on his first attempt, and then landed a dazzling 1800 spinning maneuver to pick up 95.66 points on his second run, before standing on top of the podium with a total of 174.99 points.
The women's big air event included eight athletes, and eventually came down to a close contest between Zhang Yuting of the Chongqing Winter Sports Management Center and Gan Jiajia of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In the end, Zhang scored 158.00 points, edging out Gan by a margin of 2.34, to take the title.
The 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games will begin on February 7 and end on February 14.
