Northeast China's first batch of cherries for 2025, imported via direct sea freight, have arrived at Dalian Port in Liaoning Province. A total of 4,400 tons of fresh cherries, along with 200 tons of blueberries and nectarines, were hoisted off the ship and sent to the port's cold storage facilities.

As China continues to open up its economy, the amount of fruits imported via Dalian Port has increased each year. In 2024, imports grew by nearly 10 percent from the previous year. In addition to Chilean cherries, bananas from countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, and Ecuador have also entered the Chinese market through Dalian Port.

WANG CHONG Deputy Manager, Operation Department Dalian Container Terminal Company "The direct shipping route from Chile to Dalian covers over 10,000 nautical miles and takes 25 days to reach Dalian, saving more than a week compared to traditional transshipment methods."
