In ancient times, people harvested ice blocks during Major Cold and stored them for summer use. Today, ice harvesting continues and has been expanded to serve new purposes. In Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, while the Harbin Ice and Snow World dazzles visitors from around the globe, ice is being harvested from the Songhua River. These blocks will be preserved to construct next winter's edition of the iconic park.
Major Cold is also an ideal time for winter sports and entertainment. Across China, people enjoy skiing, ice skating, sledding, and other seasonal activities, embracing the thrill and beauty of winter.
