President Xi Jinping extends Spring Festival greetings to non-CPC personages

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Monday extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his greetings during an annual gathering with non-CPC personages at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.

At the event, Xi emphasized that China will implement more proactive and impactful macro policies, focus on high-quality development, and promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.

He called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to focus on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

Xi underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) in 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the next five years.

He also expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development and actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Xi stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection.

The ACFIC, he added, should guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
