People in Shanghai had the chance to enjoy the charm of Chaoshan Yingge dance up close. To celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, a group of 27 folk artists from Chaoshan, Guangdong Province brought the traditional folk performance to the Inlet, a historic block in Shanghai, attracting locals and tourists alike. Mixing elements of martial arts and local operas, Chaoshan Yingge dance performances are said to ward evil, pray for good luck, and bring good fortune to people.
