China's economic prospects and development strategies were a key focus at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2025 in Davos, with senior officials and global business leaders emphasizing the country's pivotal role in the global economy.
Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang delivered a speech in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday, highlighting China's economic trends and the country's commitment to sustainable growth.
Ding outlined trends shaping China's economy, including the country's solid progress in high-quality development. He also welcomed foreign enterprises to invest and do business in China and achieve greater success in sharing the country's opportunities.
Zhu Min, a member of the Senior Expert Advisory Committee of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, highlighted the importance of strengthening the nation's manufacturing sector.
"This is the key competitiveness of China's economy. China's manufacturing accounts for roughly 30.3 percent of the global GDP. It's equal to the total of US, Japan and South Korea together," Zhu said during a WEF sub-forum "Decoding China's Economy: Present and Future."
"So in the next 20 years, we'll make sure 'Made in China' means cheap, good and high technology," he said.
Oerlikon Executive Chairman Michael Suss also commended China's development over the past three decades, saying it has been "impressive".
"We have to be aware that the world would not have created that wealth without the Chinese growth in the last 30 years," Suss said.
Meanwhile, WEF Managing Director Mirek Dusek noted that China plays an important role in helping the global economy "relaunch growth" in the current environment.
"China plays a very important role in that endeavor, on development, on trade as well as on technology," Dusek said in an interview with CGTN.
