Winter swimming, the practice of swimming outdoors in the cold, offers numerous benefits, including improved blood circulation and enhanced physical and psychological resilience.

Russians have a special bond with this sport, with over 80 clubs in Moscow alone. Among them is the Serebryany Bor (Silver Forest) Walrus Club, boasting a 63-year history. It's one of the oldest winter swimming clubs in Russia. Andrey Zamyslov, the chairman of the Silver Forest Walrus Club and president of the Winter Swimming Federation of Moscow, gives us a detailed introduction to winter swimming, from preparation techniques and building cold resistance to remaining flexible in icy waters.

Let's join Andrey for a frosty pool party!
