A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) delivered Spring Festival greetings to religious leaders and believers across the country on Thursday.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, extended his greetings at a symposium with leaders of national religious groups ahead of the Chinese New Year.

Praising the achievements of religious groups in 2024, Wang called for efforts to develop religions in the Chinese context, strengthen the governance of religious affairs, and foster active and healthy religious relations to contribute to Chinese modernization.

He emphasized the importance of promoting core socialist values and Chinese culture, guiding the gradual development of religious doctrines that align with China's national conditions.

Wang also highlighted the need for law-based governance of religious affairs and urged religious circles to enhance self-education, self-management and self-discipline.
