Alpine skiing is a winter sport that combines strength, speed and skill. Since its Winter Olympics debut in 1936, alpine skiing has become one of the most popular sports at the Games. Alpine skiing consists of two types of events: speed and technical. The speed events include the downhill and Super G, the technical events feature the giant slalom and slalom, while the combined events incorporate both. Both men and women competitions are contained in each event.
At the upcoming 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin City, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, alpine skiing will be among 11 disciplines of the Games and features of the men's and women's slalom events.
