Large numbers of migratory birds have been resting along the Sanggan River in Shuozhou City, north China's Shanxi Province, creating a truly spectacular sight. There are ruddy shelducks, mallards, spot-billed ducks, grey herons, swans, and other species of waterfowl. Local officials say the most numerous among them are the ruddy shelducks with a population of over 10,000.
