Highways in Xi'an City have resumed normal operations after heavy snow blanketed the provincial capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The harsh conditions began on Thursday and significantly impacted travel during the Spring Festival travel rush. Local authorities organized over 100 highway toll gates across Shaanxi to help ensure safety amid the ice and fog.
LI WEI Director, Qujiang Toll Station Shaanxi Traffic Control "The emergency plan was launched on the 21st and we stopped all employees from taking vacations. Our traffic control staff are working hard on the road. We removed the snow and kept the roads ice-free. Traffic control and the police were united. We didn't rest all night. Traffic control staff cleared the snow and police led the way."
