This is the first such grand performance to be held after the Spring Festival was officially inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Our reporter You Yang asked some Gala performers how they feel about participating in the event and the significance of UNESCO's recognition.

ZHONG CHUXI Chinese Actress "I feel very, very excited as this is my first time participating in the Spring Festival Gala. It's really a grand gathering. I have met lots of brilliant actors and actresses backstage. I feel very honored to be on the same stage together as them, and able to give our audience a great performance."

TAN WEIWEI Chinese Singer "I believe this recognition will help more people get to know about the Spring Festival, and about Chinese people's strong emotions towards this holiday. The Spring Festival Gala is one of the indispensable parts of the celebration, just like the family dinner. In this year's piece I will bring to the stage of the Spring Festival Gala the story of our intangible cultural heritage, performed with energy and youth. I hope the piece will convey my best wishes to the audience."

FISH LEONG Malaysian Singer "I feel very excited. We have had so many rehearsals, but I'm happy to see the directors still so full of passion. This year I will bring a new song to the stage, named 'Someone Who Lives in Our Hearts.' It's about the affections between people and their grandparents."
