Our reporter You Yang spoke to some of the performers about how they felt participating in the gala, as well as the significance of the UNESCO inscription in promoting this cultural festival.
XU KAI Chinese Actor "I think the UNESCO inscription means more people around the world will know about traditional Chinese culture as well as China's intangible cultural heritage. I think it is a good start for people to learn about Chinese stories."
YOU YANG Beijing "Where are you from? What are Spring Festival customs in your hometown?"
XU KAI Chinese Actor "I come from Guangdong Province. But we share the same customs as most people in China - we eat dumplings during Spring Festival."
LI YUCHUN Chinese Singer "I was a tourist during the 'China Travel' enthusiasm last year. I traveled to many cities – Xiamen, Ningbo, Suzhou, Chengdu, Shanghai... I also went on a 'City Walk' with my colleagues. When I saw that many foreign tourists love to come to China, I felt very proud."
JOEY YUNG Singer from Hong Kong SAR "In Hong Kong we go to the market to buy peach blossom and narcissus flowers to celebrate Spring Festival. We also go Spring Festival shopping. When I was a child, my grandma used to do a thorough clean before the family gathering."
