Ski mountaineering, or "skimo," is a test of endurance and skill that combines uphill climbs, downhill descents, and mountaineering techniques through snow-covered mountains.
Since the first World Championships in 2002, skimo has grown into a thrilling international competition. Athletes race through extreme conditions, ascending nearly 2,000 meters, carrying essential gear like ice axes, ropes, and avalanche detectors.
Ski mountaineering will make its Asian Winter Games debut with three events in northeast China's Harbin this year. Stay tuned for more!
