Two Chinese citizens were killed in an aircraft collision in Washington, D.C., according to preliminary information, the Chinese embassy to the United States told China Media Group on Thursday.

The collision occurred on Wednesday night near Reagan National Airport between American Airlines Flight 5342, which had 60 passengers and four crew members on board, and a Black Hawk helicopter carrying three U.S. Army soldiers.

There were no survivors, U.S. President Donald Trump said at a press conference on Thursday.

The Chinese embassy expressed deep condolences to all the victims and extended sympathy to their families.

It also stated that it has requested an official briefing from U.S. authorities following the identification and confirmation of the Chinese citizens involved. Additionally, the embassy has asked the U.S. side to assist the victims' families in the aftermath of the accident.

The embassy will provide consular protection and assistance as needed, it added.
