U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated threats of 100-percent tariffs if BRICS member countries replace the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency. Josef Gregory Mahoney, professor of politics at East China Normal University, warns that Trump's efforts to defend the U.S. dollar could backfire if he continues to exploit the system.
