4 track records refreshed at ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Milwaukee

All four track records were broken in the men's 1,000-meter, women's 1,000-meter, women's 3,000-meter, and men's 5,000-meter on the first competition day of the International Skating Union (ISU) Speed Skating World Cup in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Friday.

20-year-old American prodigy Jordan Stolz clocked 1:06.16 to seize the men's 1,000-meter gold, followed by skaters from the Netherlands, Jenning de Boo and Kjeld Nuis, who finished second and third respectively. China's Lian Ziwen finished in the 12th place in 1:08.28.

Stolz has been unstoppable in pocketing titles this season, currently topping the World Cup standings in the men's 500-meter, 1,000-meter, and 1,500-meter events.

Japanese favorite Miho Takagi was also in a great form, claiming the women's 1,000-meter victory in 1:13.56. Previous track record holder Brittany Bowe of the U.S. finished second, while Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong of the Netherlands earned the bronze.

In the long-distance races, Italy's Francesca Lollobrigida secured the women's 3,000-meter title in 3:54.73, just 0.13 seconds ahead of runner-up Ragne Wiklund of Norway. Another Norwegian Sander Eitrem set both a track record and a personal best of 6:04.74 to clinch the men's 5,000-meter gold.

Yang Binyu of China came in 11th in the women's 300-meter race in 4:01.63. Wu Yu finished the men's 5,000-meter final in the 15th place.

The World Cup in Milwaukee runs through Friday to Sunday, with the 500-meter and 1,500-meter titles being decided on Saturday.
