The United States has once again weaponized its tariff policy by imposing tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China. Ostensibly, imposing tariffs would benefit Washington by reducing its trade deficit with these countries, and increasing its fiscal revenue. Or it can be used as a bargaining chip in negotiations. But in the long run, by creating tensions in the global market and disrupting supply chains, it would be like setting off a time bomb. There are no winners in a trade war.
