There is a trade deficit issue between the EU and China, the EU needs to further open its markets and become more competitive and the EU must ensure that China has the same fair competition conditions in the European market, said Herman Van Rompuy, former president of the European Council, in a recent interview with China Media Group.

Rompuy added that there are other irregularities. This is a delicate matter, but it's an economic issue and the world should strive for multilateralism and open markets as much as possible.
