Chinese short track speed skaters Liu Shaolin and Liu Shaoang joined CGTN Sports Scene's Mike Fox in the latest episode of our Talk Sports series ahead of the ninth Asian Winter Games in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. The duo answered multiple questions on their performance last season as well as their goals for the Games.

The brothers helped China win the men's 5,000-meter relay gold medal at the International Skating Union (ISU) Short Track Speed Skating World Tour in Beijing on December 8, 2024. On the same day, Liu Shaoang joined hands with Fan Kexin, Gong Li and Sun Long to bring home the mixed relay title from the tournament.

"It was a really good season. It started a little bit rough. It's not how we imagined it's going to be, but the home competition in Beijing, it was really nice and it was really successful," Liu Shaolin said.

"I think the overall performance is pretty good. There's always ups and downs in this sport. So, if you know the sport, it's like always difficult to be on the top. So, I think that's a normal thing to have some ups and downs in the season," Liu Shaoang said.

The brothers will participate in the Asian Winter Games soon and they have clear goals: to stand on the top of the podium.

"We are in the middle of the season and the next competition is the Asian Games," Liu Shaolin said. "So, it's going to be really big competition. And sometimes if we have so many competitions in one season, for example, this season we have the Asian Games, then we have the test event for the upcoming (Winter) Olympics in Milan. So, it's a really busy season, but we like to be busy. We like to work hard and fight for the gold medals."
