"Ne Zha 2," the animated film setting China's box office ablaze, has surpassed "Avengers: Endgame" to become the second highest-grossing movie in a single market worldwide.
By Thursday night, the Chinese mythical animation had grossed over 6.22 billion yuan ($850 million) at the domestic box office, exceeding the Marvel film's earnings in North America.
The milestone came just hours after "Ne Zha 2" overtook "The Battle at Lake Changjin" as China's highest-grossing film.
Ticketing platform Maoyan projects a domestic total of 10.85 billion yuan for "Ne Zha 2," putting it on track to surpass "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," which earned $936 million in North America, in single-market box office revenue.
