Chinese President Xi Jinping met with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach on Friday. Bach is in China to attend the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

China's successful hosting of multiple major sports events in recent years has demonstrated the close collaboration between China and the IOC, Xi noted.

The Olympic spirit is an important part of human civilization, Xi said, adding that it aligns closely with China's goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind.

China integrates the Olympic spirit with its rich traditional culture and actively promotes sports development, aiming to become a sporting powerhouse and foster a healthy nation. These efforts will contribute to the advancement of international sports, he said.
