President Xi meets ROK National Assembly speaker in Harbin

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday met with National Assembly Speaker of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Woo Won-shik in Harbin, capital city of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

Woo is in the city to attend the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations over 30 years ago, China-ROK relations have achieved continuous growth, promoting bilateral cooperation and contributing to regional peace and development, Xi said.

China's policy toward the ROK is stable, Xi said, calling on both countries to work together to consolidate and develop the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

He urged efforts to deepen economic and trade relations featuring mutual integration, mutual benefit and win-win results, which is in the common interests of the two peoples.

It is imperative to enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges and strengthen the bonds between the peoples, he said, calling on both sides to support each other in hosting the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting this year and next year.

Woo said the ROK is willing to work with China to promote bilateral relations to a new level, expressing hope that the two countries will enhance economic and trade cooperation and safeguard the stability of global industrial and supply chains.

He also called for expanding personnel exchanges and enhancing friendship.
