Approximately 200 people have been evacuated to safety after a landslide buried 10 houses and left over 30 people missing in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Saturday.

According to local authorities, the landslide occurred at 11:50 a.m. in Jinping Village, which is located in Junlian County in the city of Yibin.

A Level I geological disaster emergency response, the highest level, was initiated in the province at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Emergency rescue, fire, public security, transportation, medical, telecommunications, electricity and other forces quickly rushed to the scene to carry out or assist the rescue efforts.

Two people were rescued in the afternoon.

Following the landslide, the National Development and Reform Commission has allocated 50 million yuan ($6.97 million) to support disaster relief and recovery efforts, including restoring infrastructure and public facilities in affected areas.

The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management have also earmarked 30 million yuan to support Sichuan in organizing and carrying out rescue and relief operations.
