Shehuo, a traditional folk performance with deep historical roots, is a vibrant celebration aimed at praying for favorable weather and abundant harvests. During the Spring Festival, the ancient city of Xi'an in northwest China's Shaanxi Province comes alive with the rhythmic beats of drums as locals and tourists line the pedestrian streets to capture the festive spirit through their camera lenses.
From now until the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month of the traditional Chinese calendar, Xi'an's Minleyuan pedestrian street will host 12 daily Shehuo performances, featuring stilt walkers, dragon and lion dances, and drumming rituals for blessings. These dynamic displays of intangible cultural heritage offer a joyful and immersive experience to all who visit.
