Chinese figure skater Jin Boyang is not participating in the ongoing 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, due to a back injury. He joined CGTN Sports Scene's Greg Laffradi in the program's special studio in the host city, and wished for success for his compatriots who will compete on the ice in the figure skating events.

Jin explained that his back has been in poor condition due to injuries accumulated over years of training and competing. In order to continue his career, he has found it necessary to make several adjustments, both physically and mentally.

Figure skating will begin at the Asian Winter Games on Tuesday in the ice dance rhythm dance program, the pairs short program and the men short program. Chinese athletes will participate in all three events, and Jin hopes they can show their best form on the ice.

Jin, 27, is setting his sights on competing at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. His best showing so far is a fourth-place finish in PyeongChang, South Korea, in 2018. Looking forward to next year, he says his goal remains the same – a spot on the podium.
