On February 12, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office expressed strong dissatisfaction over unwarranted remarks from the Japan-United States leaders' meeting and their joint statement. According to the statement, the two leaders expressed support for "Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations," among other remarks on the East China Sea, the South China Sea and the island of Taiwan.
