These photos captured the beautiful night scene of the Dingdu Pavilion in Beijing during the Lantern Festival on Wednesday. The Lantern Festival is a traditional Chinese festival marking the first full moon of the Chinese lunar year. It is a time for family reunions and moon gazing.
With the moonlight reflecting off the ancient Chinese-style pavilion, these photos invite us to appreciate the beauty and sentiments of ancient China. Under the moonlight, families light lanterns, guess lantern riddles, have yuanxiao or tangyuan (glutinous rice dumplings) and come together to celebrate.
Dingdu Pavilion is located on Dingdu Peak in Tanzhesi Town, Beijing. Surrounded by rolling mountains, it is a good place for scenic views in western Beijing.
