More than 60 years ago, a group of developing nations united to make their voices heard at the United Nations, forming the Group of 77 (G77). Originally founded by 77 countries, the G77 has since grown to 134 member states, making it the largest intergovernmental organization within the UN.
Although China isn't an official member, it has been a key partner to the G77, working closely with the group on critical global issues for over 30 years. This collaboration, known as G77+China, has become a powerful voice for the Global South, tackling challenges like poverty, climate change, trade barriers and more.
The G77+China forum continues to be a strong, united force for developing nations on the global stage.
This video is part of CGTN's Global South Spotlight series, which highlights the key issues facing the developing world today. Watch the full video to learn how G77+China is working together to shape a better future for the Global South.
