Chinese, Israeli foreign ministers exchange views on Gaza

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa'ar exchanged views on Gaza on the sidelines of the 61st Munich Security Conference on Saturday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said the Palestinian issue is at the core of the Middle East question, responding to violence with violence will only lead to a new vicious cycle, and the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza must come to an end as soon as possible.

Wang expressed hope that the ceasefire arrangement will be effectively implemented and that a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire will be realized on this basis.

The fundamental way out of the Middle East question lies in the implementation of the two-state solution, which will ultimately lead to the peaceful coexistence of Palestine and Israel as well as friendly exchanges between the Arab and Jewish peoples, he said.

China is ready to continue to do justice and play a constructive role in reaching a comprehensive and thorough settlement of the question of Palestine, Wang added.
