The Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) held an overseas promotional event in the German capital of Berlin on Monday. This marks the festival’s return to Berlin after a 9-year hiatus.
The event brought together renowned film industry figures, who expressed admiration for the progress and growth of China’s film industry. Among them were Polish filmmaker Jerzy Skolimowski, who served as the jury president for the 25th SIFF Golden Goblet Awards in 2023; Ichiyama Shozo, programming director of the Tokyo International Film Festival and a jury member for SIFF’s Asian New Talent section in 2010; and Marco Müller, a producer, scholar, and jury member for the main competition of the Golden Goblet Awards in 2021.

According to the committee, the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival will be held from June 13 to 22, 2025. The year 2025 also marks the 130th anniversary of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema. SIFF plans to commemorate these milestones with special film screenings and thematic exhibitions that combine artistic excellence and popular appeal.
