President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach highlighted the endeavors to incorporate esports into the Olympic Games as a way to better engage with young people.
During the 142nd IOC Session last July, the IOC executive board unanimously decided to create the Olympic Esports Games, originally to be held in 2025. Last week, the IOC announced that the Games had been rescheduled to 2027.
In an exclusive interview with China Media Group, Bach explained the process that led to the creation of the Olympic Esports Games.
