A vulture with an injured wing was rescued by local forest police in Yuanqu County, north China's Shanxi Province, on January 31. The big bird stayed at the county's wildlife protection station for a month under meticulous care and gradually healed. The bird was about 50 centimeters tall, weighed about eight kilograms and had a wingspan of nearly two meters. It was of a species under first-class national protection in China.
