Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Thursday said the United States' attempts to sow discord in China-Russia relations are totally futile.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a recent interview, expressed concern about China-Russia relations. In response, Lin said at a regular press conference that bilateral ties enjoy a strong internal driving force and will not be influenced by any third party.

Noting the development strategies and foreign policies of China and Russia are for the long term, Lin pointed out that despite changes in the international situation, the two countries' relations will proceed with ease.
